I was the design engineer for the 8-inch floppy drives in the TRS-80s. We built them in Odessa, TX, in an old ex-Sears building. The name of our company was Texas Peripherals, though we didn’t make anything else.
Their personal comment on Jobs statement to Obama that “Apple will never come back to America”, perhaps?
The 8" floppies really did flop! (literally and figuratively)
That’s looking like an iPad. I think I can make out the apple logo, but since it’s the same color as the sky, it might as well be a 5" floppy disk.
