Actually, CFL’s are mecury-filled, & technically need to be treated as HazMat if broken. They are bad for the environment & people. And, the light quality is poor, not to mention that they are expensive & do not last any longer than a regular light bulb.
Night-Gaunt49, why would I want mercury-filled bulbs that have to be disposed of by taking them to a haz-mat facility (and there is not one anywhere near where I live) when I can buy an incandescent or LED bulb and just toss it in the trash when it burns out?
On my budget I couldn’t afford those bulbs. And the fact that they are a hazard if you drop one. You can’t tell me no one hasn’t dropped at least one bulb in their lifetime. Those CFLs are on the same level as nuclear power plants. People claim they provide clean power, but the waste is radioactive and has to be stored where they won’t be any danger to the general public. Nothing clean about that.

Knock the conservative mantra off. It sounds like a bad song on a scratchy record. I bought the bulbs before I knew, and I am not a liberal.

You would get a brighter, cooler and better idea from a LED bulb. They actually do last longer.
