Transcript:
Sluggo had run away from a foster home, hoping to find happiness with his aunt- but she didn't want anything to do with him! She had married into money- and wanted no reminder of her humble beginnings! He's a raggedy little pug, Chauncey! I'm sending him back to the orphanage! Mom! No!! I've got a runaway! Sluggo told Chauncey! And I'll never go back to the orphanage or a foster home! Chauncey got $200 from his mom's dresser- gave it to his cousin- got a ticket on an eastbound train! Pacific

Wow…. That Chauncey! Never being able to see his cousin for a while! Chauncey’s showing a LOT of class, and not his aunt! And they always seem to want you when you look a little more shade of green to them…. point is, if Sluggo were to become more than what his aunt sees, she’d probably hurt her neck making that turn!

At least Chauncey cared about Sluggo!

His mother resents the constant reminder now that Chauncey insists upon being called ‘Chuggo’.

If Sluggo were to become “somebody” in his aunt’s eyes, she’d sure be doing a 360…. so sad. He’s already somebody right now!

and how much money would it take for him to have, before she’d “love” and “respect” him? What about where SHE came from? How convenient for her to forget…. Some people “come into money”, like her, and an ugly transformation occurs…. or was already there, waiting…..

200 Bucks was a lot of dough back then. This is a very interesting story….. can see the ending?

This strip is so much better now that Guy is telling stories and delving into character. Hope to see a Fritzi origin or Frotzi/Nancy origin story.

Hey, Fritzi fans. There’s a 1934 comic strip of Fritzi Ritz in the April/May issue of Reminisce magazine. She has “developed” quite a bit since then. The magazine says the strip originated in 1922 and was renamed Nancy in 1938.

Not complaining…but back in that time, they didn’t have cordless phones….

Sluggo’s aunt is one ugly woman. Guess that face looks better on a male. Also nice of Chauncey to help, but still he is stealing from his mother.

As stated here: http://www.gocomics.com/nancy/2013/04/18 Sluggo’s mother passed away shortly after he was born. That is his aunt. Her name is Maggie as is stated in the strip I referenced earlier.

Hey folks… This is FICTION! Let Guy tell the story and let us enjoy the ride.I still wonder how many GC subscribers believe Soap Operas are real.

I think she’ll assume that… but even if she found that Chauncey took it, I think she’d be mad…if it were Chauncey’s to give, or if she allows Chauncey to take money, she’d still be mad at letting anyone else have some, because it just seems that the color of blood in her veins is more green than blue or red….. she seems to get along with money better than people….

While everyone else is commenting on the plot, I just want to commend the expressions on everyone’s faces in P1…the disgust in the uncles’ faces as they recall the story, Phil’s and Chauncey’s indignation as they learn what is about to happen to Sluggo (including the angry tear on Chauncey’s face), the smugness of the aunt, and best (worst?) of all, Sluggo himself in the background looks heartbroken.
Absolutely superb artwork.
