    This isn’t so far-fetched as it may seem. Many different cultures looked at the same asterisms in the sky, and came up with vastly different images”.

    The “Big Dipper” is (in Latin) Ursa Major – the Great Bear.

    In the British Isles, they called it variously the Plough, the Great Saucepan, or the Butcher’s Cleaver.

    The ancient Hindus called it the Seven Great Sages.

    In Africa, it was called the Drinking Gourd.

    Stellarium lists the constellations of several different cultures as well. Personally, I think we need a “comic characters” constellation list!
