A garden should have at least one area for the exciting stuff. Tomatoes, peppers, lettuce and squash are good but not too interesting.

Magic beans would REALLY freak out Petey.

(Nice avatar, Margueritem– is it a white trillium?)

I suggest pumpkins or some crazy squash plant for Hallowe’en decorating. Of course, some folks might like Venus Fly traps or something like that. I’ve always liked the name SanpDRAGONS. Something the kids will like to weed and watch.

How about Audrey Jr/II (ref: The little shop of horrors)? That sure would be fun.

If you wish to encourage the fantasy, buy some Mexican jumping beans. Or buy a variety of seeds from your local gardening store and present the mixture as magic beans. (Or use food coloring to paint the beans.)

Another way to make gardening interesting is to plant different varieties of vegetables. White tomatoes, yellow raspberries, Indian corn. Or go the fairy tale route and grow a giant pumpkin!

~ It is. One of my favorite wild flowers!
