I have to agree with you. While other kids might like PB &J or cheese sandwiches, I loathed them - but still got a steady diet of them. I used to work with a guy who would eat cheese sandwiches every day, without fail, for lunch. Yuck!
school lunches have changed, in my day they had some kind of super paste that they called mashed potatoes and a cardboard substitute that was supposed to be meatloaf with a side of marbles that was peas. now they have salads and tacos or spaghetti
I really don’t think that a glue stick will ever hurt anyone. BUT- I think that she’s talking way over her age level. None of the kids I know at her age level could talk that way.
But as far as glue sticks are concerned - Kids will be kids.

Poor child looks shell-shocked in panel 1. “The thing I seen, Petey, the things I seen…”

Also great: Petey’s assumption that Dill’s mom intended the glue stick as part of a nutritious lunch.

Petey shows enthusiasm for more than chewing his own arm off, it’s a red-letter day!!

Well, glue sticks DO look a bit like string cheese.

bald I think that’s why my mom made my lunch. It was real processed cheese singles in those cheese sandwiches!

Petey’s eye in the last panel looks very sneaky. Did he put Dill up to this to drive Alice into his picky-eater cult?

Glue sticks aren’t all that bad if you dip them in a little glitter first.

The look in his eye in the last panel, that is the most alert I have ever seen Petey.

At least Dill isn’t in league with Ernesto and learning how to weaponize that glue stick …
