401(k) is a type of savings account for retirement. Basically, you have a portion of your paycheck deposited into the account and it gets invested in such things as stocks and bonds. The idea is to make a lot of money through the investing so you can live well when you retire. As you may know, the US stock market is doing terrible right now which means that a lot of people have seen very large amounts of their 401(k) money disappear. I know I’ve lost almost half of mine. But anyway, I hope this helps you understand the comic.
