    My dog Penny can be sleeping on the couch and the minute I sit down on the floor to put shoes on she’s over like a shot all wagging and panting and soft-browning me. That goes for opening the back door as quietly as I can. Dogs have radar and can see through walls.

    A cockatoo is best, although she had some destructive moments, for the most part she liked to play with me with her toys and visit with new people (and loved music, dancing and applause). If I were not worried that it would outlive me, I’d adopt another in a heartbeat. And I still have alphabet blocks for destruction.
