Clayton: Dad's acting like Friday isn't his birthday. Or he doesn't want it to be. Who doesn't love their birthday? Laura; Well, it's different when you're our age. Dad's birthday? Dad's birthday might just be making him feel... older. Clayton: But there's cake! Laura: Yes, but with sooo many candles.

Adam’s age is a little higher than that, I think.

Two candles. One shaped like a five and another shaped like a seven last year. Ice cream cake because of celiac disease, and Crestor because of the ice cream.

My birthday’s next week, I’ll be 69. I’ve got all kinds of fun things planned. I’m proud of every one of my years and ready to celebrate another one. And, if I can, I’ll be doing it for lots more years.

I wonder just how the tradition of birthday cakes got started.

Sooo what? My birthday is in four months (12/13) and I’mnot afraid to face it.

Looks like somebody else is a little worried about her own birthday coming up.

With Adam it must be the big 4-0 and around that time men go through mid-life crisis, the attitude of, “Oh I wanted to do this or do that and I never did!” It must be the male equivalent to menopause. I like the older people mentioned here who still have a zest for life and go on learning new things and trying new things. You’re never too old to learn something new.

Just give Adam 1 candle and no jokey age cards like the one I gave my brother for his 40th bday.

My next celebration will be for 72 years on planet earth. I plan on eating too much and swilling some plonk with the meal. I hope the candles don’t burn the house down.

A friend of my wife is having a 60th birthday next month. We understand the local volunteer fire company, of which he is a member of long standing, will have two trucks on standby in case the fire from the candles gets out of control, and an ambulance in case he suffers respiratory distress trying to put out the candles.

I look forward to my birthday…most of the time.

When you get to Adam’s age, using number candles saves you having to get a fire permit in some jurisdictions!
