Why South Dakota? Tonto is the name of an Apache indian tribe out of the southwest.

I kinda liked it… but the timing was pretty bad (it went up against a #2 of a well liked franchise, always a bad move)

Fun fact: in Spain, Tonto was renamed Toro.
