Been doing it for 32 years. And still going.

The man I love has been in his own business for almost 50 years and enjoys it too much to retire (he says it’s all the exercise he needs and it pays his bills). He started as a journeyman machinist at the age of 16 and worked for others until he was married. We’ve both been divorced for many decades.

Choosing a job you love and GETTING the job you love are two different things.

If everybody had a job they loved, who’d be left to clean toilets and pick up the trash?

Great strip though.

Yep, been a reality for me for just over a year now. I drew this strip when I was still working my miserable office job.

Too bad for the boys, too, if they miss out on a woman cartoonist!

I bet that most cartoonists find from a young age that the pencil is the best toy there is. better than tinker toys, lego, and that trying to do art using tempra and a huge big brush in early elementary school is frustrating if you draw a lot.I also thought that thatababy grows up!

If I could, I would. My dad always discouraged me from drawing because he said there was no money in it…. but I love drawing.

Too true. However, when it comes Art it’s getting paid for the work you love that’s the trick. ;)
