My former high school assistant principal is a tattooless Marine (was also at the same time my Mormon Church ward/congregation bishop; I’ve lived in Washington all my life, okay?).
I also am a tattooless Marine, I am also Mormon, so I don’t have that hanging over me. But, in the interest of agency, Zack can get one when he joins the Corps. OOORRRAAAAHHHH!!!!Semper Fi!!!
a lot of the military have tattoos. it doesn’t apply to only the marines. army, navy, air force, etc…some of it is regiment/division logo. others are go army, beat navy. go navy, beat army. dog tags. cross rifles. or, wings, because they are not a leg.
I enlisted in the Marines in 1963. We were told tattoos were forbidden because it would be defacing government property. There weren’t many tattoos back then.
My father served in the Marines in the South Pacific during WW2. Saw a lot of combat. Saw a lot of his friends killed. He never go a tattoo. I think it would have reminded him of things he wanted to forget.
