You don,t need air con in the UK @ Russell5419and no we are not cheapskates I live in Portugal now & the temp is in the 40s and we still don’t have air con its called curtains shut and fans on

People hate the summer until the blizzards hit? I have never once had to scrape heat from my windshield or spun out on black heat.

I think northern Europeans aren’t used to really hot weather. Temps above ~80 deg F (27 deg C) might be considered pretty hot. And there’s humidity to consider. This year in Colorado where I live it’s been pretty cool in July and August – mid 70’s deg F (~24 deg C) to mid 80’s deg F (~29 deg C) which is much cooler than last summer where we had mid 90 deg F (~35 deg C) temps and late June it reached an all time record of 102 deg F (~39 deg C). A majority here do not have AC.

One of my favorite weather trivia items: The British Consulate in Houston pays tropical hardship bonus. (90° 90% is called “Houston weather” in Texas. “In Tucson, it can get to 110°F, but they don’t mind, it’s a dry heat. In Winnipeg, it can get -30, but they don’t mind, it’s a dry cold. In Vancouver, it rains a lot, but they don’t mind, it’s a dry rain.”

I thought this strip was about Canada!? I never saw that many ice cubes at one time in England! Also, they don’t know “Ice Tea”. True story: Ordered Ice Tea at a restaurant outside of London, waiter brought bottle of Asti ( Asti Spumonti ). Never did get tea!

In San Francisco bay area, a lot of homes don’t have a/c. We have hot weather for a few days and then the fog comes in. June and July can be downright chilly and windy. The best “summer” months are September/ October.

Dang that awful humidity!!!! and good riddance to it!

I live in the desert. It’s a “dry” heat.
