I worked for a city parks department for 25 years. You have no idea how messy people can be. I had to use a vacuum truck to pick up all the garbage on the ground at one of our parks and that would take all day. And yes, we had plenty of garbage cans, which were pretty much empty.

When we camped or picnicked, the rule was ‘leave it cleaner than it was when we arrived’. He was a slave driver, my father, but he knew his woodcraft.
