Both of the customers are wearing hats while they are out and about, so most likely pre-1950s. Actually, men were still wearing hats when they were out and about through a good part of the 50s as well. If you look at the old Perry Mason episodes which are currently airing on Me TV, they show Perry and Paul grabbing a hat whenever they head out the door.

In the meantime – a really cute Mutt and Jeff film clip which I came across from the 1920s – Mutt and Jeff go on strike!

They seem to be in a Diner. Diners were popular in the 1930s and thereafter , but a nostalgic memory now.

I ate at a diner this past weekend! A diner with a history going back to the 1920s and 30s! But they had a lot of post-war pictures on their walls from the 40s and 50s as well. But – you are right. For the most part – people nowadays are afraid to eat out at diners. But te food at the diner where I ate was delicious!

The diners in New Jersey are very popular and prolific. Most have upgraded their menus and remodeled;some to a modern look but many to a retro look and feel.Very fashionable these days.
