We get, maybe, 3 calls a week on the landline, and we use our cellphones just to talk to each other when it is necessary.

Yeah, yeah…laugh it up, but when the cell towers go down during a blizzard we still have phone service. :)

I’m pretty sure that if I had a cell phone I would use it almost exclusively for the SMS. When participating in a voice call, I strongly prefer to talk to people who still have actual land lines, because I can consistently hear clearly what they are saying, which is kind of an important feature. When I need to talk to people who only have cell phones, I generally just wait until the next time I see them in person. It’s easier.

When the power goes off, I still have phone service. Some of us don’t need to be found or “tracked” 24/7 by a tether, which is what a cell phone is.

I have a long commute and carry a cell phone for emergency use only. At my house the cell phone constantly says “Loss of Service”. I need the land line.

My land line/answering machine serves as my “secretary” so I’m not bothered on my cell phone with unwanted calls.

Anyone who watched The Day After should understand the importance of landlines.
