    Note the historically correct flag of the North-German Confederation (black, white, and red), which was adopted in 1866. The modern flag (black, red, and gold), wasn’t adopted until 1919.

    Love it. It’s great seeing the comic’s beginnings. The kid with the horn, it looks like one of those , um, can’t quite remember, from that soccer tournament, uzoozoo?

    Actually, I was thinking along the same lines as Zuhlamon. This beautiful page seems to hint at changes in urban “ethnicity” in the US as much as the titles of comic strips in sunday Papers. Thanks Gocomics. What a rich cultural history.
