Dill: How did your trick or treating go? Alice: Terrible! The cuteness of my costume barely registered with people. Alice: It's because Petey confused people with that dumb box on his head! Petey: I kept explaining that I was a scathing commentary on our consumer culture. Petey: Instead of candy, they gave me political campaign literature. Dill: Ick. Alice: Meanwhile, they ignored the cute little girl in the bat costume.

As so often, Dill’s comment is just right. Alice probably got plenty of candy, but having not been the Center of Attention seems to have spoiled her appreciation of the occasion….
