    I would never cross anything off “my to do list” unless it was done!

    I usually play on GoComics and Sherpa when I have a huge to do list to do. Like I have sitting next to me right now.

    To-do lists in old age are boring and usually show doctor appointments. Lists you made in childhood are more fun, way beyond bucket lists. .According to mine, I was to become President in 1984. Would travel in time to stop the Nazis. Would have a career as a concert pianist, a combination of Liberace and Horowitz. Would test-drive a trans-light-speed car on Jupiter. Would visit all the stars in Orion’s belt. Would live a million years and circumnavigate the Universe at least once.

    @Llewellenbruce

    you are so wrong llewellenbruce..more like the other way around IMO you’re both wrong. the “perfect match” isn’t about perfect people — it’s about accepting each other, and ourselves, as imperfect! Each of these two regularly need, and receive, forgiveness. (Some recognize that as “grace”.)

    DavidHuieGreen: It doesn’t matter right now. The most useful is Mintika, the last to rise and set. Only 12 minutes south of the celestial equator, it will show an accurate east or west when near the horizon. Very useful when clouds obscure Polaris, which is twice as accurate for north. Both beat that blank spot between Crux Australis and Centurus in the Southern Hemisphere.

    Always a pleasure, Night-Gaunt49, although your Lovecraftian name gives me the shivers..Since it’s the end of the day I’ll indulge myself with a few comments that are, as usual for me, only tangential to the subject of the cartoon. When I get enthusiastic about a subject I write fast but not clearly. I hope nobody minds..I would have preferred Michio Kaku as the host of the new series, but maybe he is overexposed. No doubt the special effects will be great, but will the narrative be as good? Also, will the background music be as splendid? The mixture of old and new music was inspiring and it introduced me to Vangelis. I’m not sure Lady Gaga or rap music would be appropriate, but who am I to dictate? (But please – no Justin Bieber!).There was a series of volumes in a work called KOSMOS that, as I once heard, appeared in the mid-1800s. It seems to have treated the same subject matter, and I would like to read it some day..The was a “Lost in Space” episode where Will Robinson accidentally entered a phone-booth-size alien space ship and he supposedly circumnavigated the Universe, coming back as an old man – that’s what I referred to. I knew and still know the premise of the series and anticipated it greatly (Alpha Centauri – how I dreamed of it) and watched the first year of episodes. What a campy disappointment it turned out to be! I blame the Mod influence of that time, especially as portrayed in “Batman.” Even “The Outer Limits” had relative stinkers, as it struggled to remain on the air. Do you remember the episode in which the scientist constructed a small model of a planet around Barnard’s Star? What poor science, but I loved it..You can’t tell me much cosmological stuff I haven’t already read: hundreds of science essays by Isaac Asimov and many others, and lots of “hard” science fiction. Plus, 52 years of “National Geographic” and 30 years of “Scientific American.” It sounds like I’m boasting, or coming back at you, but it’s Friday and the Universe is a beautiful toy and I wish I knew everything to know about it. I’ll soon be one again with Star Stuff.
