Dynaflow! For those that don’t know it was the smoothest automatic transmission ever. A variable clutch changed plate angles continuously according to the torque. It was like having 10,000 gears each so close to each other that shifting was never felt and you were always in exactly the right gear.
This involved slippage which meant wasted energy and therefore poor gas millage. But in those days nobody worried about the price of gas! The first oil crisis ended the career of Buicks famous Dynaflow. I used to have a cherry but old used Buick and there was never a more smooth driving experience.
