Set theory seemed fairly useless in elementary school, because the teachers couldn’t explain how it could be useful. It’s a good tool for logical thinking and for figuring out how to classify a thing or a piece of information when problem-solving or writing instructions.
We use Venn Diagrams in my family, starting with young children. Examples: (1) clothing that one can wear outside on a winter day; (2) toys that will survive being played with in the bathtub; (3) beverages offered to teens at a party; (4) the snacks one is willing to share.
