Cathy: So, um...what was your first job? Date: My first job?...I told you all about that on our last date. Don't you remember?? Cathy: No, I don't remember. Your life story is just part of the blur of miscellaneious life stories I've heard over the years. I wasn't planning to ever go out with you again, so I didn't pay attention to anything you said to me. All that time I appeared to be listening intently I was calculating how fast I could race home, change into sweats and watch TV with my dog. I only agreed to go out again because three girlfirends gave me lectures on how I'd judged you too quickly. ...And now I'm trapped! Trapped in hour one of a three-hour dinner where all subjects are taboo because I have no memeory of what was asked or said last time!! If the silence seems awkward, imagine how the conversation would go over.
