Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for September 28, 2013
September 27, 2013
September 29, 2013
Transcript:
Arlo: See how wide they're set up? That stretches the defense out!
Arlo: The idea is to open vertical seams for the offense to exploit!
Arlo: Oh...
Arlo: Tigers and 12!
Somehow, all this reminded me of the only Myron Cohen joke that I can recall:Son walks in on Old World, traditional father, who’s watching a basketball game. Son is stunned: “Dad, I didn’t know you liked basketball; what’s the score?" Dad replies, “78 to 62." “Who’s winning?" Dad says, “78." http://theoldglobe.org/information/program%20notes/american_plan_notes.html
A years late, but, yes, the question was “what’s the spread?”, and it’s Tigers, not Lions, because this is a Saturday strip, the spread offense is mainly a college football thing, and Jimmy Johnson is from Alabama, where college football is a way of life.

Tigers? Why not Lions? I thought the joke was that all this time it was actually a baseball game.
