    Nobody says Sweden is bad… and another amen to closing the puppy mills. Both of mine are strays and I love my little 4 legged ladies.

    Simplest solution of all (at least in the U.S.) – don’t ever buy from any breeder, period. Over 3 million “excess” dogs and cats are euthanized each year, so supply obviously well exceeds demand. Why, then, pay money to people who are profiting from increasing the supply? It’s a simple numbers game – unless they are increasing the demand equal to or greater than the number of animals that they are producing, ALL breeders profit from having animals euthanized. IF we ever get to the point that the supply of pets is less than the demand, THEN buy from a breeder. Until then, ALWAYS ADOPT FROM A SHELTER OR RESCUE GROUP.

    The new APHIS rule is an opportunity to stop the growth of puppy mills. Write to APHIS in opposition; if the new rule goes in, puppies can ONLY be raised on concrete and SS. This is not how I want my pets bred and raised …
