His great grandfather would have been born between 1945 and 1955.Civil rights, Woodstock, the Summer of Love, too young for Vietnam, too old for Johnson’s Great Society.Really good times to be young and black.
Great grand father born in 1945, grandfather born in 1965, father born in 1985, nipper born in 2005, making him 8. Since he is defined as being 6, and 20 years between generation is being generous…
Could also be 1955, 1972, 1989, and 2006, using 17 years between generations…
If born in 1945, he would have been 15 in 1960, long after lynchings were “commonplace”, and more than a decade after lynchings were prosecuted as Federal crimes.
Not saying the injustices of the past were negligible, quite the opposite. But the past cannot be changed. The current world, however, has a ton of its own systemic prejudices to be fought, and a lot of us are taking up arms daily against them. Focusing energy on battles that were over two generations ago, rather than what is happening in front of us today, seems counter-productive.

If you hyper-focus on the injustices of the past, you hamstring your allies fighting against the injustices of the present.
