To get good at something you have to work at it.I remember as a little kid looking up at a basketball hoop.I would spend hours tossing that ball up at the hoop over and over till it finally went in.I never became an NBA player or even a high school player but I did get that ball into that hoop. That day I was on top of the world.I learned this lesson. What ever you work at always finish it the best you can. That is where the Magic is.
I am very proud that each of my children has accomplished much in their own ways. I posted a photo yesterday somewhere on GC of my 53YO doing his official 20 pull-ups after he finished pole jumps at the State Fair in CO. He and one of his sons do competitive pole jumps as a hobby, but he’s in mechanical and electrical engineering (has mostly done medical prosthetics).
Goethe is not very Zen. I embrace the principles of Zen but realise that I am not living a Zen life. The supposition that boldness has genius, is an assumption not based on Zen principles. One should neither presume or assume anything. Judgement and “coming to a conclusion” is too rational to be Zen.

I’m dreamed it. I began it. Maybe someday the magic will show up.
