I remember being given a dollar. It got us into the theater, a trip to the concession stand, two cartoons, one or two newsreels, a serial & a double feature, with enough left over to buy a 10 cent comic book & some penny candy on the way home. & we walked. Don’t miss my youth, just miss the simpler times.

dont know what part of the usa youre from, dad, but you described exactly what a cool saturday afternoon for a baby boomer back in the fifties was ….fifty cents admission to the movies… .and they simply played the same movies and cartoon and newsreels in order over and over and they didnt turn the lights on and shoo everybody out…. .so if you wanted to stay and see it again you could….or, if you got there in the middle of the movie , and sat through and saw everything…at some point someone would say : “this is where we came in” and that’s when it was time to split

    different times, too
