Chazz: The sacrifices certain people have made so that others can have the carefree lives they lead today! Poncho: Okay, okay! Poncho: I didn't realize putting up with me required a whole day of-- Chazz: That's not it either!

The sacrifices certain people made (died, wounded, Maimed in Vietnam) so others can have care free lives (deferments, draft dodging, Canada, National Guard, etc).

I guess if it’s also Rememberance day, it makes more sense. Veterans day is for living veterans, Memorial day is to remember those no longer living who served.
