Every office I’ve worked has more men than women (engineering and construction) and the last place in IL we had the floor directly above the top level of parking garage. One of those rubber mats uses just 100 watts (like a desk lamp) which allowed me to justify. I did not expect to use in AZ, so gave it to a greatful co-worker when I left. I have since bought another for master bath in the winter. I keep windows open when possible so it can be chilly.
I used to work with a number of women like that (one in particular who was a very small woman, 5’0 if she was lucky, not even 100 pounds soaking wet), who always wanted the AC in the office turned up to like 80-85 degrees during the summer. I told them more than once, “You can always put on more layers of clothing; when I start taking things off, it gets real ugly around here real fast.” One of the managers took me literally and said, “No one’s taking off anything around here.” They say you get lobotomized when you reach middle management.
