Okay, there’s glass in the lower window sash, yet the animals are poking through. No wonder Hammy doesn’t understand. If the laws of physics can be so blithely subverted, then where’s the rationale behind anything. You go, young squirrell. Thou art the innocent Adonis of the forest, the nieve muse of nature.
@bubbarebThe window is closed. They are behind the glass (outside) in the first panel. Not so in the last panel. And you don’t have any concern that they hear and understand speech through a closed window and speak the human language themselves?

In my profession, which involves a lot of graphics, diagonal lines like that are the indication for glass.
