    It’s butter, salt and pepper for me. I don’t want anything else on or in my grits. If I want a cheese dish, I’ll make macaroni and cheese (the way the good Lord intended us to mix our carbs and dairy products :-D ). And for those who put sugar/syrup/molasses on their grits, you should be ashamed to call yourself a southerner.

    I dyslexed that into “The #2 grit critter” and the art worked for that too. In Indiana, it’s as likely to be catsup/ketchup on the grits you eat. Possibly related to the fact that Indiana grows lots of tomatoes for that condiment.

    While I’m not a big fan of plain grits for breakfast, I love shrimp and grits as a dinner entree. It’s a coastal thing…

    There is almost no wrong way to eat grits. I like grits jambalaya. The meat is up to you, However, sugar/syrup/ molasses are just wrong.
