Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
That parking lot backstory reminded me of the one time that I took retaliation on a trespasser (not by keying, as has been done to me) but when I finally got a hard-fought battle for assigned parking back at Zenith (since we Facilities people had to come and go during the day and lost other advantageous parking). A car belonging to someone unknown (among the factory workers) started taking my assigned spot.
I would not do anything to damage the property, but wanted to make a point, so I wrote a message in china marker (a wax pencil that writes on any surface) on the windshield to the effect that they had usurped my spot. It did not go well! I had to remove the writing myself. I subsequently started being sneaky and parking in the loading dock and such (my friends in maintenance covered for me).
I wasnât trying to invade your privacy, yesterdayâŠIâm just interested in the people I âcorrespond withâ..Iâve known people who say that they have very little time left but are proved wrong. If you would rather tell me to F off, you can do so privately, as one of my e-mail addresses is on my profile..Talking of profilesâŠ.I think that it would be nice if people could put a few facts about themselves. It doesnât have to be true..àžàžžàžàčàžĄàčàčàžàžąàžŁàžčàčàžȘàžŽàčàžàžàž”àčàžàž°àčàžàžŽàžàžàž¶àčàž I hope that translates properlyâŠ.I donât put much trust in Google.
Well, I guess Bev âlet the cat out of the bagâ !Hello, Essex60âŠ.my name is Candi. Nice to meet ya! LOL
(It really is not a big deal. Iâve mentioned my real name before on GoComics)
Bev invited me to stay with them at their family home in upstate NY back in August. We had a great time together and it seemed like we had known each other all our lives!
Here we are meeting Susan for a picnic at the lake. Thatâs Bev on the left and Iâm on the right:
@Bev, I only mentioned the cookies because they are popular at the Tiki (that was here in AZ). Eldest son now lives in CO and did the high jumps just for recreation with a competitive group, but since he was there, also did the 20 pull-ups for a shirt (he coached his college gymnastics team back in his days in Boston but went to Berkley for masters in electrical and mechanical eng. Now both his sons have their bach. One was also there doing high jumps. My kids are tall and skinny like their dad. Iâm the only short person (even my parents were about 5â-6".)
Iâm very little all over- could not do a thing with Happyâs sandwich, even when I go back to meat.
I must admit that every time I step over past the deli dept to breads, Iâm thinking of some good rare nitrate-free roast beef, with aged sharp cheddar, crisp romaine, ripe tomato slices and a tasty rough wheat grain. That lettuce looks more like baby bibb or butter (neither as crisp) and raw onion I mostly like with burgers or dogs and dark mustard. Roast beef is better with some creamy horseradish (just enough to keep it moist).
I just had my supper of bean salad with my yummy red vinegar dressing, cherry tomatoes, cantaloupe and red pepper. I DID buy some extra croissants (mini- multigrain 6 pack from the store bakery). I toasted 2 in a saucepan with crinkled foil inside (mini toaster-oven). I can taste the yummy butter between the layers (like home-made puff pastry). Have to think about making some of those. The taste was very good though!
âIf Iâd initially known you as Candi, I probably wouldnât have had the year long gender confusion, referring to you as âhimâ for all that time. Oh my..the memories.â++++++++++++++++++++++++++++FunnyâŠI was thinking the same thing. I wasnât all that bothered by it though, and there just never seemed to be a good opportunity to set the record straight, so to speakâŠ
But, really, EssâŠhow many guys would choose the user name of âStelBelâ (which, in this case, was after my dear, little dog that had passed away: Stella Bella.)? LOL
Velma-Sueâs big reconciliation party to end the 10-generation Grayson/McBride family feud for keeps had started so well there was room for cautious optimism. Then Winslow had to start making loud stage whispers to Darlene about how if you wanted a Pastrami on Rye youâd best git to the servinâ table before the Graysons or all youâd have to choose from was yesterdayâs tuna and a handful of âtater chips, cuz there ainât nothinâ those freeloadinâ bums wouldnât whisk off of the buffet bar that werenât hammered down with a roofinâ nail. Next thing, Gary walked up and said âSay McBride, you want my sandwich? Well you can have my sandwich. With my gracious compliments. And here you go!â And that was where, in my opinion, the reconciliation party kinda lost its footingâŠ
âTwas Brillig, which was just as well, because the whole room was sick of alcohol and needed something a little more sobering..The hostess was quick off the mark and wheeled in the sandwiches and tea. Gary was pleased about this, as all during the festivities someone had been annoying him with constant reminders of his shortfallings in the small-talk department and he needed a diversion..Whilst Gary was deciding whether to choose the processed yak substitute sandwich or the cream cheese and rib scrapings, this miscreant had decided to take the seat Gary had just vacated. Well, this was the final straw. Upon his return, Gary upturned the whole plate of food over his adversary..The hostess backed slowly from the room taking the food and tea with her. âOh no!â She thought. "This is far too early to instigate the erotic food fight Iâd planned."
When Carroll uses such words as Brillig and Beware the Bandersnatch, I like to enjoy them as Jimbo is the abstract art in todayâs Rose is Rose (by being carried away in my impressions). I just finished a good workout (made better by playing more Andre Rieu music after following someoneâs link to pipers on Scottland the Brave). One of the last as I finished my last set was Matilda and I came back here to link it for Ling (since his visual time online is short, I thought some music might help). I notice heâs not weighed in, but it IS Sunday â hope heâs OK.
why do I feel like changing my name to Alice and looking for the nearest rabbit hole?âŠlolâŠFenton, please Sir, a hot cup of coffee and a double shot of Frangelico on the side. Thank you kind Sir! Gonna go play the jukeboxâŠMonster MashâŠI am in the mood for some Bobby PickensâŠ
Hi BALLARDEERS. Tâwas brillig and the something slothsWere something, something, la, la, la. Okay, itâs been a while since I knew that poem. Galumphing is in there somewhere. Is that what happens next on Ballard Street?
Iâm a little slow on the trigger. I was doing my homework. Thanks for posting Carollâs poem HAPPY. I was too lazy to get up to read my book, lol. I love that poem.
Since Halloween is near, what do we have in the way of spooky cocktails Fenton? Nothing with Scorpions or other dead bodies in it though. Iâll settle for some spirits.
I just re-watched the old episode that ended 2010 season of Simpsons where Ned was shocked to know that she knew much of the town, not my case, but I can empathize. Men used to and some still have a double standard.
@Happy â LOVE that illustration for today! Not Carrollâs style, but very fitting to the words as well. I used to have that memorized because it is such fun.
