Seems like she should be texting the message on her smart phone in this day and age. Besides, Santa would be more likely to get it in a timely fashion that way. NO! He doesn’t leave on his trip until the 24th. So he won’t need to read it while driving.
I don’t recall that seat belts were even THE LAW back then. The feeling was more that- if you’re smart, you wear them. If you don’t wear them, don’t say you weren’t warned. And did they have over the shoulders harness belts yet? I don’t recall them that far back.
And ypoons7666 is right. We lose a lot as we progress. We mustn’t fool ourselves into thinking that technology is all gain. There is always a trade-off.
Remember of course that Santa isn’t driving he is flying! Seat belts have been in flying vehicles practically since the beginning, and there has always been the requirement on commercial aircraft that they be buckled up on take-off and landing. As for me, on those very rare occasions when I fly I keep mine on for the whole flight.
Shoulder harnesses were seperate from seat belts in 1966, well into the 1970s. Laws were made in different states and countries after that. Seat belts were mandatory in US cars in 1966.

From Peppermint Patty’s first Peanuts Christmas back in 1966.
And I know Santa Claus’ sleigh always has a seat belt, and he must know all the safety precautions like all airline flights do.

Peppermint Patty’s ready for motherhood. Lol

Seat belts were not standard equipment until about 1965 in the US. They were never used by anybody but me and a few other geeks until the 1980s.

Yayyyy… Peppermint Patty!
She should have also added “Make sure the reindeer eat well and get plenty of rest for their big trip across the world”

Unlike Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty has surprisingly nice handwriting for being the poor student that she is in school!

Click it or ticket. I don’t need to tell Santa not to use a cell phone because those are not invented yet.
