All kidding aside, in this day, all classrooms MUST be locked at all times. I am glad I am retired after teaching 36 years.

I seem to remember Rodney Dangerfield did a joke about his parents locking him out of the house after he had left.

In the nine years since this strip went out, there have been 281 school shootings in the USA, about one every 12 days.
In 30 of those shootings, nobody was killed or injured. 11% nobody hurt, 89% somebody hurt. So when a gun is fired on or near school grounds, there is a 1 in nine chance that nobody will get hurt. Or, put another way, it is nine times more likely someone will get hurt than nobody will get hurt when a gun is fired in or near a school.
In 174 of those shootings, nobody was killed. In 107 somebody was killed. That’s a shooting in a school in the USA where someone was killed, on average, every 31 days. So one a calendar month on average.
38% of school shooting incidents result in at least one person dying.
463 people were injured in those shootings. Equivalent to a wounding every 7 days. One a week.
200 people were killed in those shootings. Sometimes only 1, another time 22 people. Equivalent to one person killed in a USA school every 16 days. About one a fortnight.
Locking the doors does not seem to be helping.
