The year was 1978, and my company had an employee’s Christmas party, where one fellow, obviously stuck in the ’50s, showed up wearing an iridescent, narrow-lapel suit and skinny tie. He always sported a grease-ball/DA/pompadour hairstyle, but was extremely proud that he managed to wedge quarters into his loafers.
