What a wimp. 25 lbs certainly isn’t heavy to lift.. But a frozen 25lb turkey dropped on the foot would be.

Who in their right mind would buy a 25-lbs. turkey for a family of four? (Five if we count the dog.)

I had frozen corn on the cob fall out of the freezer once, and land squarely on my big toe. To this day, that nail refuses to grow straight, though the split down the center of it is finally gone.

The Pattersons have a large family when you combine both sides, his and hers. 22 lb. turkey just may feed them. We also have ham for those who don’t like turkey. Yes they are out there..

My Mom would buy an 18-20 pound turkey for four. We had turkey, turkey and gravy on biscuits, turkey soup, and turkey sandwiches. Her recipe doesn’t work well on anything smaller than 18 pounds.

Why buy a 25 lb turkey for four people. Because during the holidays they are ridiculously inexpensive. It is just as much work to cook a small bird as a big one. The meat can be frozen for future meals. There are only two of us and I buy two or three big ones at thanksgiving and put them in the freezer. One big bird will feed us two or three times a week for a month.

This is pretty close to the point that I started reading this strip during its original run. I followed it pretty steadily for a few years after their youngest child was born within days of the birth of my youngest. I always enjoyed how the characters in this strip aged fairly fairly close to real time.

I remember an episode of Mythbusters where they checked out the myth of dropping a frozen turkey on a small pet, the results were spine shattering.

Freezing it doesn’t increase the weight. Any moisture that is going to freeze is already in the unfrozen bird.

Absolutely 100% NOT my intention! While there were good things, the ’50s, from one who was there, was also a time of great social constriction which was reflected in the 180 swing in the ’60s. We just never seem to be able to stop the pendulum at the right point.

I had a 3/4 HP electric motor fall of the workbench and land on my instep just behind my big toe. Black and blue for three months.

Had a metal sign @3x5 slip from my grasp, dropped heavily on my foot. Metal edge cut down into my shoe , put a deep dent in the shoe across the toe and left black ridge across top of toes (yes, all) with black and blue toes swollen and unmoveable forever. Finally healed time crawls when you’re having fun.Jagged rusty edge on that sign. I am muuch more careful now.
