Saturday BEAT TCU Puzzle Non Solution
1. Top panel: Cleo is wondering if The Ole Scalawag can squeeze another week’s worth of material out of the Robot Macarena. Bottom panel: Looks like we’re going to find out.
2. Top: To save $, Nighthawks employs some 400 pound kid in his bedroom in New Jersey to create matte background of Cleveland. Bottom: For background, cheapskate producers use skyline of Tijuana, home of inexpensive location shoots, quickie divorces, and birthplace of the Robot Macarena.
3. Top: Cleo’s word balloon is weighted down with exclamation point made entirely of lead to keep it from floating out of the frame. Bottom: Cleo’s word balloon aSPIRE’s to greater heights.
4. Top: The Ole Scalawag is quickly running out of material for this week’s non solution due NOT to his own lack of imagination but rather because today’s puzzle is another rerun. Bottom: Don’t blame Nighthawks – blame stupid GoComics’ underlords for treating Sherpa like a cur dog at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
5. Top: Do I still have one more to go before it’s time for the Highly Technical portion of this non solution? Bottom: Not any longer.
6-9. Highly technical. Only MontanyLady, for whom the song Smoke Gets In Your Eyes by The Platters has taken on a whole new meaning; PerkyCat, who should be relieved I omitted any reference to Barkie Howladay this week; Susan☼ (you see what I did there?); J.P. Steve, who knows a thing or two about mad monks; and Queen IStelaBela of Ditherton; Spewer of Wrath, Tamperer of Evilness, and Purpler of All Things Purpleable, would understand.
