OMG, that is so true, unfortunately. I volunteer at a food bank and we can tell when someone has cleared out a parent’s cupboards. All the food is five or more years out of date. That’s a keeper!
It is even worse with bread. Perfectly good expired bread we pick up on Sunday will suddenly have mold when we take it to the food bank on Monday. And any old bread without mold can be freshened by freezing it.
