As long as the squirrel can distinguish between the phone lines and the power lines. One Saturday morning 30 some years ago my brother and I were watching TV when the picture shrank; then, with a bang, we had no power. I went down to the road in front of the house and eventually found a dead squirrel with a very shocked look on its face. It had apparently bridged a transformer and killed the power to the whole street, to say nothing of itself.
