Elly: Dad? Are you ready to come home? Jim: The nurses are very kind here, Elly. They let me stay with her. I just sit and watch her sleeping. I can't remember when your mother wasn't a part of my life. We were only 19 and 21 when we met, during the war. Strange. With all that we went through then, this is the hardest battle we've ever had to face.

Hm. A few strips ago he thought “she’s had my heart for more than 40 years.” So he fell in love before 1957 but probably after 1947 (else he’d say fifty).
