Elizabeth: Seems weird, graduating this year. I'll just be going through it all again next year. April: Why? Elizabeth: Ontario still has grade 13. There's one more year of school after grade 12, and then you go to university. April: How come? Elizabeth: That's just the way it is in this province. - Do you know why, Mom? Elly: Maybe it's so we can keep you home a little while longer.

Michael never went through Grade 13 and it stopped by the time April got to high school, so why did Liz have to go through it? Did Michael and Liz go to different high schools?

As an employer in the seventies interviewing job applicants, I found that ‘graduating grade twelve’ and ‘graduating grade thirteen’ had the effect of taking the sting from things like ‘graduating grade nine’ or such which seemed to make what was really dropping out of high school hardly worth mentioning.
