Funny… I loved learning trumpet. I practiced a lot at home, because the teacher at school couldn’t move nearly fast enough for my taste as a 9-year-old.

Funny indeed. Some kids catch on fire right away, most don’t. Those that don’t, for parents and teachers, it’s like trying to push a string. Actual quote from one of the latter who has grown up: “Why didn’t you make me keep taking piano?”

I told my kids that if they wanted to learn an instrument, that I would teach them piano. If they got through the beginner book in piano, and proved to me that they would practice, then we would talk about hiring a teacher to teach them another instrument. My daughter said piano was too hard, and she wanted to play something easy, like the violin. I told her the violin is difficult, and she said, “No it’s not, you just rub the stick across the strings!”

Meowlin: I transcribed that for trombone, but never could get the middle part right.

typical spoiled brat, that’s the trouble with basket weaving college grads. No one told us it would be this hard in the real world. Wah wah wah.

Get a life you born looser. Stop screaming at the kid. And while I’m at it why don’t you earn a living like being an accountant, lawyer or doctor. Now I know why you live close to the poverty level and have bad breath.

A cup of pinto bean (pills) should do it. No practice required.
