Do – a deer, a female deer.Re – a drop of golden sun.Mi – a name I call myself,Fa – a long, long way to run . . . Okay, we seem to be missing a few kids here . . .
Oh great, now I’ve got “Lady Madonna” stuck in my head.I wonder if Paul McCartney is struck by the irony of that title, given the modern "Madonna"’s child-obsession thing.
Enlarged image can be found here (along with a description), or at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.Portrait of Maréchale Lannes, Duchesse de Montebello with Her Children (link shows her Wikipedia page, has their names, Google translated French Wikipedia page has more) is, as far as I can tell, privately owned. The Maréchale in the title, should perhaps be Maréchales (maybe like adding an “s” to Mr. to make Mrs., what her French Wikipedia page uses). It translates to Marshal, and her husband was a Marshal of the Empire under Napoleon.Youtube slide-show collections of her works (with some overlap), put to music, can be found here, here, and here. This painting is about 1:50 into the first one (also found by @jmcx4, thanks!, fullscreen is active)
The painting shows the same scene as this (click for full click-to-enlarge image)by François Gérard, which hangs here (put MV 4917 in the Rechercher box to see its webpage). Both artists have the same last name, and painted each at around the same time; but, as far as I can tell, were unrelated (what took me some time, why this is a bit later than my usual comment). Her Wikipedia page (Google translated Swedish Wikipedia page has more) and collection.Third, of the 3 works, by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.
Love the painting of a sweet and regal family for the Napoleonic times.@mabrndt, Thanks for info on the text box. I see now that if I had typed it (instead of copy/paste) it would have had no problem, because the quotes on my keyboard are the right ones. I can’t help it if at my age I am a lazy typist.

Wow, this must be old. There hasn’t been a bear sighting in Montebello in years. Glendale on the other hand…

Apparently the image shown in my first comment has moved. My revised comment says how to see it (I got tired of not having the Edit button here).
