Well, Sluggo’s on his way to plush carpet!….

Great, the chemicals reacted with the embedded filth in Sluggo’s carpet to create a supermold.

I’m surprised Sluggo gets to stay all alone in that house, at his young age. This never seems to be addressed.

Besides, the house still seems to need a lot of work.

Now this is something more like Ernie Bushmiler would have done. Forget the sentimental crap, obituaries and obscure country music references.

Funny you mention that, Susan, and also, thanks for doing it. Of all Nancy’s characters, Fritzi is the only one that looks like having been drawn by an amateur, with noticeable wrong human body proportions and a nuance of lust. For really attractive right-proportioned female characters there are plenty of other comics like 9CL, Legend of Bill and Last Kiss. Above mentioned nuance is absent in those.

And before you shoot me, in my balance this strip is alright. No doubt that with his proven skills the artist could do a fantastic/top-of-the-line job, instead of a comfort-food-style one. IMHO.

Personally, I don’t think the Country Music references are obscure… and I do enjoy them. If you want to read Ernie Bushmiller’s work, I may suggest the Ilovecomix archive. Mr. Gilchrist is not the creator of this strip, but he is the current writer. The syndicate has allowed him to take the story to where it is now. I believe some new readers have been added and I also reckon some older ones have quit reading it. Same goes for other strips that have been here for a while. Blondie, Popeye, Alley pop, Dick Tracy and others are not the same as they were when I was younger, but I still enjoy them. Things change. Personally I try to embrace it where possible.
