Al S.: Linking arms was called a “flying wedge” and was banned fr safety reasons about a century ago – along with handles on the quarterback so the backfield could throw him over both lines (and presumably the goal line as well). There was a strong movement at the time to totally outlaw the game. It put concern over brain injury today in the shade.
“Okay men, half time is over….now shoehorn yourselves out the door and take the field.”“Where Coach?”“I don’t care just take the field somewhere nice for drinks and conversation.”
