Wow, Sheila is actually really mean here. A B is a decent grade, especially for Nate, but instead of congratulating him, smiling, or even just not doing anything, she mentions that the class average is higher than his grade. On top of that, it’s an average, meaning there could’ve been, and probably were, some students who got lower than an 81, meaning Nate’s grade probably wasn’t the lowest in the class.
