apathetic. I treat my wife well all the time. Bought flowers for her a couple of weeks ago- just because. She appreciates them more than the society mandated ones. (which I don’t do.)
Around 35 years ago we discovered that the only restaurant we could get into on St. Valentine’s Day was a bar-b-que restaurant. My wife is a sport, so our problem was solved, then and now.
Other classic dump lines include “Can we just be friends?” “I really need to get my head together.” and the meanest of all, “I think we should see other people!”
I love it! For me, Valentines, New Years Eve and a few (unmentioned) Anniversaries are my special romantic days. We might not appear to do anything special (and it’s not necessary) but it IS the thought. If we’d be together, I would cook and/or bake something special.
Since he’s busy thru Sunday with his drama, I plan a fancy dinner at my house on NEXT weekend – have a pint of fresh shucked oysters on special order to pick up for Saturday etc. I received an ecard Valentine for charity and need no more.
And it’s past 5 here now and I’m having a pretty glass of gin on the rocks (and have some dark chocolate every day). Sometimes I have some that’s less than 60% but has extra salty sprinkles – YUM!

I’d rather drive snakes out of Ireland than deal with this commercialized mess.

Under this case-hardened exterior (right), I’m a softie.

Now that my kids are grown, it’s just another day to me. And a big moneymaker for card, candy, jewelry and flower vendors.

I’ve never dated, not married and am diabetic, so no chocolate tomorrow. I call it Single Awareness Day.

Love it because I don’t have to buy my own chocolate……Unlike the rest of the year. ;-)
