Mine chased a ball of yarn around the kitchen while I was at work one time. I knew right away, because it had come unraveled while he chased it, and it was around the chair legs, through the rungs, etc. etc.
Cats play anytime they want! My cats like to chase each other around the house and jump on and into things at 4am. (Just one of the reasons they are not allowed in the bedroom! :) )
If I didn’t leave the door open at night my girl would just pound on it and howl. I leave it open and she sleeps either beside me or on my stomach. of all the cats I’ve had over the years she is the only one to do that. I like it, having her next to me helps me to sleep

No not at 3 in the morning. But when you have cats, you best get used to it!

One of ours has decided bouncing on stomachs is a great idea at this time of night – by jumping from the top of a chest of drawers!
