AnnieT53: Cardinals stay here (north Texas) year ’round. This morning, I saw a separate pair, normally they do not pair during the winter, but are non-territorial through the season. Is this an optimistic sign?Blame the colorists. Cardinals are larger, thinner, and have a distinct crest.
Birdhouses with insulation? That would be new, thought the custom one I made in my pic was different lol. I wonder if birds would even change their behavior and prefer one that is warmer than another.

Used to take the wads of lint from the dryer trap and leave it on the fence. The birds recognized insulation when they saw it.
