Even with the filters, I still get the spam e-mail, somehow. I spent a few minutes each day unsubscribing from that unwanted crap. Of course that results in occasionally not even having e-mail some days.

I had friends who needed cheering up. I bought them an audiobook from Audible. When I hadn’t heard anything for a while I e-mailed. Their spam filter had intercepted my gift!
